Sauvignon Blanc, Canted County Vineyard, 2024
Texas High Plains, Canted County Vineyard, 2025
80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Sémillon
Crafted in the tradition of the great white wines of Bordeaux, this Fumé Blanc-style blend brings together the vibrant aromatics of Sauvignon Blanc with the richness and texture of Sémillon. Sourced from the Texas High Plains and harvested on August 7, 2024, the fruit was co-fermented before aging 11 months sur lie in French oak, 67% of which was new. The extended lees contact builds depth and a creamy mid-palate while preserving the wine's freshness and precision.
The nose is expressive with notes of fresh-cut grass, ripe melon, citrus peel, beeswax, white flowers, and a touch of vanilla and toasted spice from the French oak. As the wine opens, subtle hints of lanolin and wet stone add further complexity.
On the palate, medium-plus acidity carries flavors of honeydew, Meyer lemon, and orchard fruit across a rounded, textured body. The influence of Sémillon and sur lie aging lends weight and elegance, while the restrained oak contributes layers of spice and a gentle creaminess rather than overt toast. The finish is long, crisp, and refreshingly savory, balancing richness with vibrant acidity in a style that is both immediately appealing and worthy of short-term cellaring.
