Cabernet Sauvignon, Texas High Plains, 2025
85% Cabernet Sauvignon (Clone 47), 15% Petit Verdot
Sourced entirely from Canted County Vineyard in the Texas High Plains, this youthful Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the concentration and structure that have made Clone 47 one of the world's most respected Cabernet selections. Originally propagated from Bordeaux, Clone 47 is prized for its deep color, expressive dark fruit, balanced tannin structure, and ability to achieve exceptional ripeness while retaining freshness.
The wine was aged sur lie for 45 days before spending time in French oak, 60% of which was new, building texture and complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, cassis, and ripe plum are layered with cocoa, cedar, vanilla, baking spice, and a touch of graphite. Petit Verdot contributes additional color, floral lift, and firm structure.
The palate is generous and youthful, delivering rich dark fruit across the mid-palate with juicy acidity that keeps the wine vibrant despite its concentration. Firm, well-integrated tannins provide length and aging potential, while the French oak adds subtle notes of toast and spice without overshadowing the fruit. Already approachable for its freshness and balance, this wine has the structure to evolve beautifully over the next decade.
